Untitled (1972)
By J. Zereé
Oil on canvas
24" x 22"
With expressive brushstrokes, Zereé merges the styles of Symbolism and Expressionism to evoke a calm yet unsettling atmosphere. While light tones suggest the halo around the figure holding a book, individual details are subordinated to the overall impression of pervasive darkness. Intriguingly, the hidden face in the top left corner invites debate, as the artist compels the viewer’s eye to discern the ambiguous shape and expression of the unknown figure.

Untitled (1972)
By J. Zereé
Oil on canvas
23" x 29"
Zereé's dynamic canvas explores the storm in its most extreme form. The artist emphasizes the intensity of the tempest by blending a gloomy sky with the raging sea. Despite being threatened by the relentless force of nature, the boat continues its desperate fight for survival.

"A Shell Of Herself" (2022)
By Serena Tozzi
Oil on canvas
14" x 10"
Just as Aphrodite emerged from the foam on a clamshell, A Shell of Herself rises from the inky depths, invoking the raw essence of feminine beauty. The female figure is laid bare, with little left to the imagination—from the exposed neck and torso to the light that shimmers off both body and shell. Echoing the conch shell’s cut section that cradles her, the figure proudly lifts her chin and crosses her limbs. Enveloped by the curving embrace of her shell, which amplifies her allure, Serena Tozzi's A Shell of Herself presents the birth of a modern-day goddess.

"Perla" (2021)
By Serena Tozzi
Oil on canvas
10" x 8"
Perla's sinister yet captivating appearance evokes deep emotions in the observer. Her slender frame may symbolize her battle with depression and low self-esteem. Lying on the sand, she timidly clutches a shell, as if to shield her vulnerability. Perhaps, it suggests that being vulnerable is acceptable, as true beauty radiates from within.

"Hawa" (2021)
By Greg Sama
Charcoal/Pencil on paper
21" x 19"
In Sama’s piece, Hawa, the viewer is captivated by a mesmerizing beauty as the figure seemingly bursts from the frame. Sketched in a gradient from white to black, her gown merges seamlessly with the surrounding background. This sense of breaking free is accentuated by the increasing depth and definition, starting from her collarbone and culminating in the detailed features of her face. Her thin eyebrows, glistening eyes, shapely nose, shimmering lips, and sharp cheekbones take on a photorealistic quality. Framing her head like a crown, her thick, dark hair adds to her regal presence. Hawa is not merely a portrait, but a study in bringing beauty to life.
